Periodontitis

Complex approach to gum problems. Periodontology is a part of dentistry dealing with inflammatory and aesthetic problems of gums. The outcome of these inflammatory processes is very serious: gradual loss of the level of bone holding our teeth, as well as their further wobbling and falling out, from time to time. You have to think about this on this way; If there is no bone around the root of the tooth, the tooth has nothing to hold on to, so it becomes more wobbly over time and in the worst cases can fall out after a period of time.

With periodontological treatment and prophylaxis, these diseases can be avoided and, in some cases, very easily cured. In our practice we develop a full program of healing procedures to stop the infection, limit bone loss and restore the gums. If necessary, we perform surgical interventions to restore lost bone, as well teeth from defects, which defects are a result of inflammations. Oral hygiene is the be-all and end-all when starting to treat periodontitis. Regular visits for a dental hygiene treatment, at an individually adjusted interval (usually 4-6 months), are necessary in most cases in order to maintain the good condition of the saved teeth and to reduce the risk of renewed infection and bone loss.

Symptoms of periodontitis include:

  • Unpleasant bad breath/taste
  • Swelling and redness of the gums
  • bleeding gums
  • receding gums
  • Sensitive tooth necks
  • Loose teeth
